The Paris cityscape. Building regulations prevent buildings above a certain height from being built in Paris, hence the lack of skyscrapers means that the Eiffel Tower is one of only two buildings which rises clear above the flat Paris skyline.

The Eiffel Tower, lit up celebrating the Millennium year. It was adorned with a stack of strobe lights that would fire off for ten minutes every hour. It looked pretty neat, and probably gave epileptics fits for kilometres around.

Venice is sinking. Some blocks of buildings are affected more than others, so some canals have renovation work done on them like this one. Girders are put in place, the water is pumped out of them, and then reconstruction work on building foundations can take place. It's a very expensive process.

We had this small bag in the shape of a mini football we brought along, and after seeing Castaway in Germany, had nicknamed it "Wilson Junior". Here it got accidentally stuck at the top of a makeshift basketball hoop.
Audience participation at a somewhat corny Nepalese Dance show at a restaurant in Pokhara. We were basically the only people at that restaurant and they still had to put the show on.
